Ram 1500 Gets Another Industry-First from SiriusXM

Written By, Jordan R

Since the all-new next-generation 2019 Ram 1500 debuted at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show, the light-duty pickup truck has earned itself quite an array of awards. Most recently, the 2019 Ram 1500 became the first pickup truck to earn a Top Safety Pick Plus from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Ram released a special edition, the Ram 1500 Kentucky Derby Edition to commemorate the Kentucky Derby and their partnership with Ram for the last nine years. The 2019 Ram 1500 also comes with upgrades, like the mild-hybrid system eTorque, one of many firsts the pickup truck debuted at launch. Another industry-first, the 2019 Ram 1500 came with the new SiriusXM 360L platform. Now, SiriusXM is using the new platform to launch an all-new way to experience music. It’s “Personalized Stations Powered by Pandora”.

Yes, that’s another industry-first for the Ram 1500. It’s like every year there are more reasons for truck lovers to convert and became a part of the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) family. If consumers thought the new SiriusXM 360L platform experience was cool, “Personalized Stations Powered by Pandora” is even better. The SiriusXM next-generation 360L experience was a new platform from SiriusXM with more variety, smart content recommendations, and limitless on-demand streaming audio. “Personalized Stations Powered by Pandora” takes this a step further, with a much larger focus on smart content recommendations based on consumer input and choices.

The new platform will allow you to create their own ad-free music stations based on the artists and bands they listen to the most. While listening to the music station, like usual in Pandora, you can skip songs they don’t like. In addition, you can give songs a thumbs up or thumbs down. Together, these functions will help to better curate a personalized channel for subscribers. This way, their own personal channel plays more of what they want to hear, as it should.

Yes, if that little detail didn’t slip by, Ram truck owners will need a subscription to SiriusXM All Access to get the 360L platform and “Personalized Stations Powered by Pandora”. That means getting a new Ram 1500 equipped with a Uconnect 12-inch touchscreen. Now here’s the tricky part. This new feature by SiriusXM will immediately be available on all 2020 Ram 1500, 2500, 3500 and Chassis Cab models equipped with Ram’s class-leading Uconnect 12-inch touchscreen. Starting in October 2019, consumers of new 2020 models only need to subscribe and opt-in for the update.

However, if you recently got a 2019 Ram 1500, don’t feel too bad. They’re getting grandfathered in! With the use of over-the-air software updates, the feature will also be released in an update sometime in the fourth quarter of 2019. In addition, for truck lovers who also can’t get enough sports, Ram customers with the SiriusXM 360L platform get another new feature in the update. Consumers can enable Sports Notifications based on their favorite teams. When their team’s game is on the radio, an on-screen notification will pop up on the touchscreen and you can tune in with the touch of a button. Now that’s convenient.

With 2020 nearby, 2019 Ram 1500 trucks need to leave the lot and make room for 2020 models, so start looking for great deals. Then again, when shopping for a car online with NowCar, we always get you the best possible deal on a new car.
