Many BEVs Made the WardsAuto 10 Best UX List

Written By, Jordan R

Battery-electric vehicles (BEVs), more commonly known as electric vehicles (EVs), are starting to take over the auto industry, and that’s a good thing. Automakers all over the globe have come to terms with the new age of the automobile, one that’s electric and futuristic, and that goes double for the interior design and user experience. In fact, WardsAuto just put together its “10 Best Interiors & UX List”, and many well-known automakers made the list. Moreover, half of the winners were BEVs.

“This year marks a significant milestone for the Wards 10 Best Interiors and UX awards…With 50% of our winners being battery-electric vehicles, this tells us the interiors of these models now are as awe-inspiring as their 0-60 mph performance time. Automakers are creating beautiful cabins in these vehicles that combine great new ideas with timeless designs from the past, plus packing them with great advanced technologies such as augmented reality.” - WardsAuto Editor Drew Winter

If WardsAuto is unheard of, here’s a little background information for the organization and publication. Known for their in-depth coverage of the latest news, data, and analysis on the newest vehicles on the market today, automakers and consumers are always keen to hear what WardsAuto has to say, especially when it comes to awards and “Best of” lists. When it comes to the “10 Best Interiors & UX List”, WardsAuto had simple rules – to be considered, user experience-related technology must be in a model that is all new or was significantly improved from the previous year. It’s a good thing some of the winners were just released earlier this year, because many times, these lists also exclude vehicles not yet available to the public. For the 10 Best Interiors & UX List”, WardsAuto evaluated 22 vehicles in total with new or heavily redesigned interiors with user-experience technology. The evaluation was conducted between February and April 2022, and winner choices were based on user friendliness, infotainment features, sound systems, vehicle connectivity, driver assistance technology, information/displays, system compatibility, voice control, materials, and overall value.

Six winners stand out. In alphabetical order, the Kia EV6 has been turning heads since its first debut. The Kia EV6 is the automaker’s first all-electric vehicle with no gasoline predecessor. The Volkswagen Golf GTI made it to the list for its high-tech amenities and design cues that fit in an affordable package. Elusive until 2021, the Jeep Grand Wagoneer sounded like a myth, but it busted doors wide open with all of the high-tech features the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer came with. Surprisingly, some startups also made the list. The Lucid Air, an electric sedan by Lucid Motors, has made for some healthy competition and made the WardsAuto 10 Best Interiors & UX List”. It would be a surprise if Rivian didn’t make the cut with all the cool tech and equipment installed into their electric pickup truck, the RT1.

We did say more than half of the winners were BEVs. The other winners that are all-electric include the Audi e-tron, the BMW iX, and the Mercedes-Benz EQS580. All good choices, but we have our favorites. Shop for a new car online with NowCar and find yourself an electric vehicle (EV).
