Two Silverado Generations to Be Available at the Same Time

Written By, Brad R.

Chevy has announced the third-generation Silverado will continue to be made alongside their all-new fourth-generation Silverado. For people looking for a high-quality pickup, there’s no denying the powerful 2019 Chevrolet Silverado. As an aerodynamic full-size truck, complete with an interior that has added storage space and more functionality, customers will enjoy the quality enhancements. In fact, this new generation Silverado is 450 pounds lighter, yet stronger thanks to the engineers at Chevy. Custom features include a body-color styling theme with available 20-inch painted aluminum wheels, LED signature taillamps and an available integrated dual exhaust. So why sell the current Chevy Silverado as well? Simply to provide more selection as the incoming 2019 Chevy Silverado arrives later this fall - read on to learn about the upcoming 2019 model.

“Truck customers told us they want the perfect truck for them and not a ‘one size fits most’ truck, compromised for the masses. That insight shaped our design strategy with eight distinct models, each with a unique personality to fit different customers, from the affordable Work Truck to the luxurious High Country,” said Mike Simcoe, VP of Global Design, General Motors.

The latest Chevy Silverado is set to come out later this year, and General Motors is debuting two new powertrains. The powerhouse 5.3-Liter V8 engine that delivers 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft will join the new 2.7-Liter turbocharged engine that provides 310 horsepower and 348 lb-ft of torque in the powertrain lineup. Let’s get into the differences and what to expect with the latest Chevy Silverado pickup.

More on the 2019 Silverado Trims

The entry WT trim has standard rear vision camera, 7-inch color touchscreen, 17-inch painted-steel wheels on all-season tires, HID (High-Intensity Discharge) headlamps, an available locking tailgate, remote entry and heated mirrors.

The LT Z71 trim is remarkable, providing a comfortable ride on all-terrain tires to go with matching comfort in interior with wide bucket seats. The 355 horsepower 5.3-Liter V8 engine is powerful enough to handle just about any task. There’s also a standard 8-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Google Auto included in the LT Z71.

Just Revealed: 2019 Silverado Pricing

The 2019 Chevy Silverado pricing will begin at $29,725 MSRP (plus destination fee) for the base Work Truck (WT) trim. With a standard regular cab, long bed and rear-drive with a 4.3-Liter V6 engine, owners get a bargain. Further into the lineup, the features added directly translate to the old saying “More bang for your buck.” The first three (WT, Custom and Custom Trail Boss) of eight trims, known as the High Value trims, come with the standard 4.3-Liter V6 powertrain and have the option of adding the 5.3-Liter V8. Both of those engines are paired with a 6-speed transmission.

The next tier of the Silverado can be found in the mid-level trims, known as the High Volume level. Starting with the LT trim, this Silverado trim gains a double cab and two-wheel drive with a 79.2 inch standard Durabed with Best-in-class cargo box volume so you can haul more with each load. The LT and RST trims come standard with the all-new turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder, starting at $38,395 MSRP (plus destination fee). The new turbo engine replaces the 4.3-Liter V6 as the standard engine on the high volume SIlverado LT and new Silverado RST, providing 22 percent more torque and greater fuel efficiency with even a stronger power-to-weight ratio than the 2018 Silverado. The RST version with the same turbocharged engine begins at just $40,295 (plus destination fee). RST stands for “Rally Sport Truck” and it includes body color bumpers, body color grille insert, sporty wheels and a RST badge.

For drivers that want the monstrous and impressive 5.3-Liter V8 engine, it will begin at $44,495 (plus destination fee) and standard for the LT Trail Boss, LTZ and High Country trims. Only the LTZ and High Country, known as the High Feature trims, have the available powertrain option for the 6.2-Liter V8 with 10-speed transmission and Dynamic Fuel Management.

Spectacular Pricing For Newest Chevy

The all-new fourth generation 2019 Chevy Silverado really begins to get fancy with the new Trail Boss off-road Silverado that comes in two-trims: the Custom ($40,995 MSRP plus destination fee) and LT ($47,395 MSRP plus destination fee) – both come with four-wheel drive. Atop that trim is the High Country, the most complete Silverado available. The High Country has a 6.2-Liter V8 engine combined to a 10-speed automatic, including a crew cab and short bed that is 79.2 inches. This is the only trim that has the exclusive front grille design and carries a two-tone chrome and bronze finish with body-color accents. Plus, chrome assist steps from wheel-to-wheel, with chrome styling running through the bumpers and mirror caps. Owners of the fourth-generation, all-new 2019 Chevy Silverado will have a sleek ride with any of the eight available trims. Dynamic Fuel Management is included with both the 5.3-Liter V8 and 6.2-Liter V8.

For comparison purposes, the price for the 2018 Chevy Silverado 4x4 with the double cab and standard box in the LT trim is $40,700 and that same truck in the 2019 version is $42,700.

More on the 2019 Chevy Silverado

This upcoming Silverado will offer Best-in-class cargo box volume with a 63 cubic-feet short box. Integrated spoiler at the rear edge of the cab directs air over the tailgate lip, which minimizes wind drag from the bed. This move alone helped improve aerodynamic efficiency by seven percent. This is a fast pickup with the ability to move from 0-to-60 in just 7.2 seconds; not bad at all for a pickup that can haul up to 12,200 lbs with a max payload of 2,100 lbs. This is more than a stylish truck, complete with the strength and performance to help drivers go where they need to and handle wherever the road takes them. Now you only need to know where to go to buy one later this fall. The best part is, potential customers don’t have to move a muscle to find out these days. That’s all thanks to NowCar!
