Three Awesome Off-Road Trucks Available on NowCar

Written By, Jordan R.

When it comes to going off-road, most people think of Jeep. Built with 4x4 systems, Jeep models are made to trek through water, rock crawl, and more. Yet, Jeeps aren’t the only ones capable of going down the beaten path. Various trucks can also get the job done, such as the Ram 1500 Rebel, Ram 2500 Power Wagon, and the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2, and they are all available on NowCar.

Ram 1500 Rebel

Introduced in 2015, the Ram 1500 Rebel has been a top choice among off-roaders. With the option of a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine that offers 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque, or a 5.7-liter HEMI® V8 that can generate 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque, the choice buyers have to make when buying the Ram 1500 Rebel comes down to how much power is needed when going off-road. With the HEMI® engine, the Ram 1500 Rebel is available with a 3.92 or 3.21 gear ratio and either a 4x2 or 4x4 drivetrain; when the 1500 Rebel is equipped with the V6 engine it features a 3.92 gear ratio and a 4x4 drivetrain. If the Rebel is properly equipped with the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 and a higher gear ratio, consumers can get a towing capacity of 10,140 pounds. Plus, the Ram 1500 Rebel comes with a 1.0-inch raised ride height in comparison to other Ram 1500 trims, Bilstein front and rear shocks, and 17-inch wheels with Toyo Open Country A/T all-terrain tires, all of which are great when off-roading all day.

Ram Power Wagon

The Ram 2500 Power Wagon has always been one of the more bestial trucks of the Ram lineup. Riding on 17-inch wheels with 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires, the Power Wagon is already equipped to handle going off-road. Plus, it’s powered by a 6.4-liter HEMI® V-8 with best-in-class 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque. Don’t forget about its unique Ram “Articulink” front suspension system and sway-bar disconnecting system for additional flexibility and axle articulation when going up hills, over rocks, or just crossing uneven terrain. With a 12,000-pound electric winch mounted behind the front bumper and 10,030 pounds of towing capacity, drivers in the Ram 2500 Power Wagon can be an unsung hero getting others out of a jam, or just haul cargo for their next adventure.

Chevrolet Colorado ZR2

We spoke about the Chevy Colorado ZR2 back in August when it it became known as an off-road warrior. The Chevrolet Colorado dominated the “Vegas-to-Reno” off-road race this year, 2017. Not only did it finish the race in tact, but it looked good doing it. Powered by a 3.6-liter V6 engine, the Colorado ZR2 is able to generate 308 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque, but the option for a class-exclusive Duramax diesel engine that produces 181 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque is available too. That’s enough power to tow 5,000 lbs of cargo, or carry a 1,100-pound payload. Take into account the multimatic Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve (DSSV) dampers and its class-exclusive electronic lockers, and the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 is definitely made for mayhem off-road.

So how about it? Ready to go off-road in a 2018 Ram 1500 Rebel, a 2018 Ram 2500 Power Wagon, or a 2018 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 4x4?
