SUV Market Hotter Than Ever, These Are 2 of the Most Powerful SUVs Available

Written By, Chloe L.

Sales of SUVs have been skyrocketing over the last few years, and manufacturers have been eager to meet consumer demands, and one of those demands is high performance SUVs. The 2018 model year saw an increase of high performance SUVs, and two of the most notable models are the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk and the 2018 Dodge Durango SRT. Although both models have some record-breaking stats, they are also two of the most affordable high performance SUVs on the market. Here’s a closer look at the track times, capabilities and traits of both models.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk

Jeep has never been a company that wants close competitors. Jeep always wants to be the best. So to prevent any manufacturer from getting too close to being able to share the limelight with the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT as being one of the most powerful two-row SUVs on the market, Jeep decided to introduce a new model that’s significantly more powerful than all of the competition.

The new model is the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk and it is equipped with a 707-horsepower 6.2-liter HEMI V8 engine. All of that power makes the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk the most powerful and quickest SUV ever. The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk produces 645 lb-ft of torque and it accelerates from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds, completes a quarter-mile in 11.6 seconds and can hit a top speed of 180 mph. The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk also has an impressive towing capacity of 7,200 pounds.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is a spacious five-passenger vehicle that offers offers 68.3 cubic feet of cargo room. The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk has a lot of advanced tech and a stylish interior cabin. The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is equipped with heated front and rear seats and ventilated front seats, an 8.4-inch touchscreen and Uconnect 4.0.

Dodge Durango SRT

Dodge is a brand known for manufacturing extremely powerful muscle cars, and for the 2018 model year Dodge decided to give a little of that power to the Dodge Durango, so they created the 2018 Dodge Durango SRT. The Dodge Durango SRT is America’s fastest and most powerful three-row SUV.

The Durango SRT is equipped with a 475-horsepower 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine, and not only is the Durango SRT fast, but it has best-in-class towing capabilities as well. The Dodge Durango SRT goes from 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds, completes a quarter-mile in 12.3 seconds and has a maximum towing capacity of 8,700 pounds.

The Dodge Durango has seating for seven passengers and a really comfortable seating configuration of two captains chairs in the middle row and three seats in the third row. The Dodge Durango also offers 84.5 cubic feet of cargo room, which is a great feature for people that use their SUV to transport big items. The Durango’s second- and third-row seats can be easily folded to make room for cargo when necessary. Like the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, the Dodge Durango has heated front and rear seats, ventilated front seats, Uconnect 4.0 and an 8.4-inch touchscreen.
