Written By, Harley R

NowCar has affordable solutions to your business's vehicle needs. Currently available at NowCar are two small cargo vans, the Chevy City Express and Ram ProMaster City. Both vans can be financed or leased online and then delivered directly to your business. Which one is right for you? You tell us.

Engine and Fuel Economy

It doesn’t matter if you are looking at a commercial van or a performance vehicle, we know the engine is always an important part of making a decision on a vehicle. Luckily for you, both of these vans come with powerful engines.

The Ram ProMaster comes in four different trims (Tradesman Cargo Van, Tradesman SLT Cargo Van, Wagon and Wagon SLT), and they all come standard with a 2.4-liter Tigershark Multiair2 engine paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission. This combination of engine and transmission produces 178 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque, and gives the cargo van and average fuel economy of 21 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.

The Chevy City Express comes in two trims, both of which come standard with the same 2.0-liter DOHC I4 engine that produces up to 131 horsepower and 139 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) giving the van an average fuel economy of 24 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.

Cargo Space

If you are purchasing a cargo van, chances are that the amount of cargo you can haul is important in your decision making process. Both of these vans can carry a large amount of cargo as well has have a high payload limit and can tow cargo when needed as well.

The ProMaster city is best-in-class for cargo volume as it offers 131.7 cubic feet of cargo space. The payload on this van is a maximum of 1,883pounds, and it can tow up to 2,000 pounds when needed. The Chevy City Express has a maximum cargo volume of 122.7 cubic feet and it has a maximum payload of 1,500 pounds.

Upfit Options

Ram ProMaster Upfits

City vans are nothing without the upfits needed to bring your business to life, even on the road. The Ram ProMaster City Cargo van comes with upfit options including a trades interior upfit, delivery interior upfit, and a roof rack upfit.

The trades interior upfit has features like shelving, tank storage, tool benches and hardware holds. The trades upfit is recommended for painters, plumbers, construction workers, and locksmiths.

The delivery interior upfit has features such as easy van access, performance upgrades, and capability to make sure you get where you need to be, with what you need to deliver and on time. This upfit is recommended for flower deliveries, catering companies, and any other types of delivery companies (mail, packages, etc.).

The exterior roof rack upfit is great for construction workers, painters, and electricians. This upfit is able to hold things on the roof that aren’t able to fit in the van. Ladders, and other extra cargo materials can be secured to the roof instead of inside the van.

Chevy City Express Upfits

The City express also comes with some great upfit options. Depending on your trade and/or profession there are up to 10 different upfits available for the van. Professions that tend to utilize these upfits include: contractors, plumbers, electricians, HVAC, different delivery services, mobile service, and locksmiths.

The upfit options include: shelving, bin shelving, fold-up shelving, drawer systems, floor liners, ladder racks, max rack, partitions, accessories, and installation kits. Most of these upfits are self explanatory. Mix and match the upfits you need to help with your professional needs.

Some of the accessory options include van lights, organizers, different rack systems and more. In addition, kits can be purchased for each of these upfits to install yourself. Or, you can order the upfits and have them pre-installed and/or installed at your nearest Chevy service department.

Price/Warranties

Money, money, money. We know this section could be the final decision maker for which van works best for your company's needs. However, the good news is both of these vehicles are very affordable and come with awesome warranties.
