Ram 1500 Set To Gain An Entirely Electric Trim Before This Decade Ends

Written By, Brad R

The Ram 1500 pickup truck is the next vehicle to receive the EV treatment by Stellantis, the parent company of Ram. As those in power at the top of the board of Stellantis have big plans for the all-new Ram 1500  The truth is this has been the plan for the Ram brand for over three years. We know Stellantis is planning to discontinue the sale of diesel engines in all passenger cars at some point this year. We expect to inform our readers of fantastic choices that include an EV pickup made by Ram at a certain date, but it's all speculation about when that will happen. Ram CEO Mike Manley previously added the EV pickup will be made in the fall of 2020. We are focused on exactly what Ram has revealed so far.

How Often Does Ram Follow Their Announced Plans?

Ram has a pretty impressive track record when it comes to following through on its five-year plans. Back in 2014, the Ram brand had plans to relaunch the Ram 1500 by 2017 and that came true. The Ram 1500 saw a new generation come through in its 2018 model year, which debuted in 2017. Stellantis is now aiming to ensure EV sales are triple by 2025. Currently, the entirety of the Stellantis is expected to sell more than 400,000 electric vehicles this year alone. Stellantis is pushing to have more charging stations added globally as a result. As far as the Ram brand goes, they are pretty accurate about what they reveal and the reflection of this is in their current production. Ram has done their part to earn accolades, but expect to gain even more praise once their lineup includes EV choices.

Growth of the EV To Come

Keep in mind, 14 percent of all sales are electrified in Europe, but the accumulation of that figure is expected to increase to 38 percent by 2025. The total number of EV sales for the company is as much as 70 percent by the closing of the 2020s decade. With just over eight years left in the decade, we expect various platforms to alter considerably. Carlos Tavares, CEO of Stellantis, has stated that they have begun to work on new platforms. The outcome for medium and large platforms is set for production in 2023. This should push Ram ahead of the curve as a crop of new EV pickups will most likely arrive soon after the automotive industry has tapped into this segment.

Having a wealth of 130-GWh batteries is the next step by 2025 as the improved 250 GWh batteries will be prepared by the end of the decade. The key date to hold on to is rapidly approaching, July 8th, 2021, when more details are expected to be released on Electrification Day for every Ram investor. The current guesstimation about what the Ram 1500 EV truck will cost should cost around the $70,000 mark experts predict.
