Quality, Safety, Tech, Kia Has It All

For two years in a row, Kia has earned the top spot in the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study and five Kia models have been named Highest in Initial Quality in their class and not only are Kia models high quality, they are safe, too.

Five 2017 Kia models have been named Top Safety Picks by the I.I.H.S., and that’s not a very common accomplishment in the auto industry. Top Safety Picks are given to vehicles that have earned above average ratings in five different crash tests, and what’s even more impressive, is in addition to Kia’s the top marks in crashworthiness, Kia offers advanced safety features that improve driving and help avoid accidents altogether.

Blind Spot Detection

Available in a number of Kia models, blind spot detection is an extra pair of eyes to see the objects a driver can’t. When a vehicle enters a driver’s blind spot, blind spot detection notifies drivers with an audio sound and a visual that appears in the exterior side mirror closest to the other vehicle.

Forward Collision Warning

Forward collision warning is a driver assistance system that monitors the distance between the driver’s car and the car ahead, if the system detects the distance between the two cars is close, it will notify the driver.

Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB)

A more advanced version of Forward Collision Warning is Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB). Kia vehicles equipped with AEB have a radar sensor that can detect a possible forward collision and apply the brakes to try to prevent a collision. The radar sensor is triggered when the vehicle in front unexpectedly brakes or appears to be moving carelessly.

Lane Departure Warning

Lane departure warning is an excellent driver assistance feature that prevents careless driving and accidents due to distracted or drowsy driving. With lane departure warning, there is a camera mounted on the windshield and it senses the road and if the vehicle appears to unintentionally veer off track, the system warns the driver to take control of the vehicle again.

Smart Cruise Control (SCC)

When in cruise control, a driver can use smart cruise control to set a distance they want to keep between the vehicle and the vehicle ahead of them.
