Ram 1500 Limited, a luxury truck trim

New Luxury American Trucks and SUVs Appeal to New Buyers

Written By, Chloe Lykes

For the last few years, the auto industry has seen an increase in the demand for crossovers, SUVs and trucks. In response to those demands, automakers increased the supply of those vehicles and they have also started diversifying their models to offer new luxury features and trims and those new options are attracting a new type of customer.

According an article published by the New York Times,  many upscale customers are switching from luxury European sedans to luxury trucks and SUVs, and that’s a pretty significant change. Customers that want luxury no longer have to stick to smaller cars like sedans and coupes made by European automakers, instead they can get all those features in a more versatile vehicle like a truck, crossover or SUV made by American automakers.

Three automakers that have embraced the new potential fan base operate under the FCA umbrella. These three American brands are Ram, Dodge and Jeep. All three brands have all-new 2018 models equipped with high-end luxury features, the most modern tech and they offer remarkable performance.

Ram Limited + New Ram Limited Tungsten Edition Models

The Limited trim available on the Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 models has been available for several years and it offers consumers total luxury, however, Ram took luxury a step further with the introduction of the new Ram Limited Tungsten Edition models, which are the most luxury trucks to date.

“The Limited Tungsten Edition is the highest trim level Ram has made available,” said Mike Manley, Head of Ram Brand, FCA – Global. “The new Tungsten Edition is an example of how Ram directly responds to customer input by offering the industry’s most luxurious pickup. Premium truck buyers will recognize the attention to detail, surrounded by quality materials.”

Limited Tungsten Edition models offer one of the most striking and unique truck interiors available, ultra-premium “Natura Plus” Frost and Indigo-hued leather seats paired with genuine wood accents. The driver and front seat passenger are kept comfortable in summer or winter with the heated and ventilated front seats, and rear seat passengers are kept cozy with rear heated seats. Entertainment options include an 8.4-inch radio display which is compatible with intuitive entertainment programs like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing users to sync their phones to the vehicle’s touchscreen and use their phone to call, text or email via voice commands.

2018 Dodge Durango SRT

While there’s no doubt that Dodge targets high-end consumers with incredibly powerful and luxury SRT models like the 840-horsepower Dodge Challenger SRT Demon and 707-horsepower Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat, but Dodge recently expanded their lineup with the all-new 2018 Dodge Durango SRT, which offers the same level of SRT performance and luxury while also offering the conveniences and practicality of an SUV.

Equipped with a 475-horsepower 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine, the all-new Dodge Durango SRT is the fastest and most-powerful three-row SUV on the market. The Dodge Durango SRT is equipped with all of the convenience and luxury features, like available dual high-def screens on the front seat backs, heated and ventilated front seats, a large touchscreen on the dash, and a premium listening experience with the Beats Premium Audio System, that buyers expect on a luxury vehicle, and it also has seating for seven passengers, a towing capacity of 8,700 pounds, and it can rival the performance of high-end luxury sedans with its acceleration from 0-60 mph in just 4.4 seconds.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk

The Jeep Grand Cherokee has been known as a luxury model for decades, but Jeep made a move to keep their competitive edge this year by adding an even more powerful and more luxury Grand Cherokee trim, the all-new 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is equipped with a 707-horsepower 6.2-liter HEMI V8 engine, which is as much power as the SRT Hellcat engine. Though the Grand Cherokee is large, its extreme engine is powerful enough to rival luxury performance sedans and coupes. The Grand Cherokee accelerates from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds, completes a quarter-mile in 11.6 seconds and hits a top speed of 180 mph.

But like the Dodge Durango SRT and the Ram Limited Tungsten Editions, the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is filled with the upscale features luxury shoppers want. The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk features Nappa leather seats, wood grain finishes, a large touchscreen, navigation and its available with a Blu-Ray compatible dual screen video on the seat backs of the front two seats. Drivers and passengers are treated to a nine-speaker system or they can upgrade to the available 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system as well.
