Kia is One of the Most Exciting Brands Right Now

Written By, Chloe Lykes

2016 has been an exciting year for Kia and it looks like the excitement is just beginning. Not only was Kia named “Highest Ranked Brand in Initial Quality” in the 2016 J.D. Power Study, but two Kia models were the “Highest Ranked Models in Initial Quality” in their class. Additionally, the I.I.H.S. has named seven Kia models as “Top Safety Picks,” a record that is only matched by Honda.

All of that good news seems to be resonating with shoppers, too. As of September 2016, Kia Motors America (KMA) had the highest sales total through the first three quarters in company history. If it's not the awards that’s lured in new customers, it could be Kia’s industry-leading warranties of five years or 60,000 miles for the basic warranty and ten years or 100,000 miles for the powertrain warranty.

Though Kia has earned some of the best titles this year, Kia is not going to rest on their laurels. There are currently five 2017 models available and next year Kia is adding two all-new “green” models to the lineup, the Kia Niro and Kia Optima PHEV and they are revamping the Kia Optima Hybrid.

Lucky for us, all Kia models are available at NowCar and we have some very competitive prices. Here’s the latest on some of the most popular Kia models.

Green Models

2016 Kia Optima/ 2016 Kia Optima Hybrid

IIHS Top Safety Pick+

The Kia Optima is a spacious five-passenger sedan that people love. The Optima was chosen as the winner in the midsize segment in AutoPacific’s 2016 Ideal Vehicle Awards (IVA) and it's earned several other awards this year.

The Optima is available with four different engines, one of which is a hybrid engine. The Optima’s base engine is a 185-horsepower 2.4-liter I4 engine paired to a dual continuously variable valve timing transmission. The engine and transmission give the Optima a fuel economy of 25 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway. The 2016 Kia Optima starts at $22,140.

The Kia Optima Hybrid is equipped with a 159-horsepower 2.4-liter engine and a 47-horsepower electric motor and together they give the Optima a total of 199 horses and a fuel economy of 36 mpg in the city and 40 mpg on the highway. To help the Optima Hybrid achieve its fuel economy, the Optima Hybrid has been carefully designed to be aerodynamic and reduce the vehicle’s drag. In 2017, the Kia Optima Hybrid will be fully-redesigned and it will be 10 percent more fuel efficient. The 2016 Kia Optima Hybrid starts at $25,995.

2016 Kia Soul

2016 I.I.H.S. Top Safety Pick

The Kia Soul is one of the most unique looking cars on the market and based on the results of the 2016 JD Power Study, the Kia Soul is also the highest ranked compact multi-purpose vehicle. The 2016 Kia Soul is a fuel-efficient five-passenger vehicle and it's available with a gas engine or as an electric vehicle. The Kia Soul is available with a 1.6-liter I4 engine that has a fuel economy of 24 MPG in the city and 30 MPG on the highway. The 2016 Kia Soul starts at  $15,900.

2017 Kia Sorento

IIHS Top Safety Pick+

The 2017 Kia Sorento is a step-up from the five-passenger Kia Sportage. The 2017 Sorento is a safe that is also fairly fuel efficient for its power and size. The Sorento has both an athletic and sleek look and it was named the Highest Ranked Vehicle Appeal in its class in the 2016 J.D. Power Study.  There are five Sorento trims and three engine options including the 290-horsepower 3.3-liter V6 engine. The 2017 Kia Sorento starts at $25,400.
