Is The New 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Already A Collector's Item?

Written By, Brad R

The production slowdown around the world has hit nearly every single industry thanks to the on-going Coronavirus predicament. Among those looking to continue making strides back to normal is General Motors. The continuation of the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette is set to be a priority, however, the upcoming 2021 Chevrolet Corvette is still expected to happen as well before summer. We're certain the production will be delayed, but not entirely slowed down like the previous year.

The all-new "C8", the eighth-generation Corvette, had a slow start when production issues slowed the roll out and with the COVID-19 outbreak, the total number of 2020 Corvette vehicles built was just over 3,000. That kind of exclusivity is helping the 2020 Corvette become a rare find! Only a few and a select number of owners are currently enjoying the perks of the latest generation Corvette, but believe it or not, Chevrolet isn't doing too bad in 2020.

Corvette Sales Figures Not Far Off

Vehicles built like the Corvette are few and far between, but this exclusive vehicle just became all the more rare with the likelihood being that Chevrolet does not match the number of vehicles made for the 2020 model year as opposed to previous model years. By this time last year, the outgoing seventh-generation Corvette had sold 3,943 vehicles, which is 3.1% less this year for the 2020 model year hitting only 3,830 2020 Corvette models. Luckily for General Motors and Chevrolet, this is not a massive drop point.

However, many expected the final year of the seventh-generation to not have phenomenal sales, as the 2018 Chevrolet Corvette had sold 4,457 vehicles in the first quarter of 2018. That was a figure of 11.5% less from 2018 to 2019. So, Chevrolet is looking for a way to gain back what they had lost by offering its latest and greatest, first-ever mid-engine Corvette.

Chevrolet Still Seeing Success Across the Brand

Chevrolet has continued to see success with its vehicles, aside from the Chevy Corvette and Silverado. The Chevrolet Trax. Equinox and Colorado pickup earned some of its highest sales last year. 2019 sales for those vehicles hit record highs throughout the year and the hope is as 2020 continues, Chevrolet will see an uptick across all their sales in the many vehicle segments Chevy has a hand in.
