How The 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Is Made Up of SRT Demon Parts

The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye delivers a superb, high-end 797 horsepower and 707 lb-ft of torque from its supercharged 6.2-Liter V8 engine. Paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, the Hellcat Redeye inherits a lengthy list of components produced for the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. While the Dodge SRT Demon was capable of generating 840 horsepower when using high octane fuel, the parts that helped make the Demon so powerful are found in the latest SRT (Street Racing Technology) Challenger.

The original SRT Demon's production delivered a total of just 3,330 vehicles. Of course, the all-new 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye is not restricted by a limited run; so all of our readers can feel free to order one. Let's look at what the all-new 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye has in store for consumers.

Breaking Down the SRT Hellcat Redeye

The 2019 Hellcat Redeye begins with the standard Hellcat, but that trim swaps the 2.4-liter supercharger for the Demon's 2.7-liter unit, and it hits 14.5 psi of boost—versus the 11.6 psi of the standard Hellcat — and the Demon as well. The standard Hellcat's 6,200 rpm redline is increased to match the Demon's 6,500 rpm redline, and two dual-stage fuel pumps from the Demon help feed the Hellcat Redeye's thirst for premium 93 octane.

Other SRT Demon parts carried over to the new 2019 Hellcat Redeye span from a 41-spline half shafts (produces a 20 percent increase in torque capacity) and high-strength steel prop shafts (lending a15 percent increase in torque capacity). While the Hellcat Redeye comes standard with a high stall torque converter (giving 18 percent extra torque and 11 percent quicker stall speed) and a 2.62:1 final drive ratio, the Demon's 3.09:1 is a possible choice.

What helps propel the Dodge Demon to launch out fast from the line is also available with the SRT Hellcat Redeye; Launch Control, Launch Assist, Line Lock, and Torque Reserve. There's also the Power Chiller and After-Run Chiller to help cool things down at the drag strip. The pricing difference is considerable for the 2019 Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye that's listed at $71,350 MSRP, which is significantly less than the Demon's $86,090 sticker price.

Differences On The Drag And Overall

The all-new 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye is capable of holding its own with a quarter-mile time of only 10.8 seconds. While the Demon boasted a remarkable 9.65 second quarter-mile time, the Redeye does reach a lighting fast 131 mph in the same span, only 9 mph slower than the SRT Demon. Considering the price is much higher for the Demon, that's not a bad sacrifice.

Concerning the differences between the Hellcat Redeye compared to the Demon? It's a short list, but it's enough to let Demon owners appreciate they still have something extraordinary. The 18-inch Demon wheels wrapped in 315/40 drag radials have not been added to the SRT Hellcat Redeye, but rather gain 2 sets of sporty 20-inch wheels with 305/35 tires. The distinct weight-shifting suspension mode is removed. The tinier, thinner 14.2-inch front brakes for track duty aren't added as the Hellcat Redeye packs 15.4-inch stoppers from Brembo up front.
