NowCar Roadkill Nights 2021

Get Ready for Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge

Written By, Jordan R

Hooboy, 2020 was not a great year for a lot of people. Aside from the virus affecting the health of the general public, every industry took a hit, and social events all over were quickly shut down. It was a bit of a boring year for the auto industry, with a lot of automakers holding digital conferences to discuss things to come, but not showing us any results. Last year, we missed all of the auto shows that would debut or reveal the latest and coolest concepts. Easter Jeep Safari was a huge loss in 2020, but there was another much loved event that skipped a year, and everyone on the internet is psyched for the return of Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge in 2021.

"After a COVID-19 hiatus in 2020, we are proud to partner with Dodge and bring back for our fans Roadkill Nights…If you've ever dreamed of watching street-legal drag racing down Woodward Avenue, come to our event! We have Dodge thrill rides, a car show and street-legal drag racing. It's going to be an absolutely epic day for anyone with a passion for cars!" - Eric Schwab, MotorTrend Group's Group SVP, Head of Revenue and Partnerships

Taking place on August 14 2021, from 10am to 9pm, MotorTrend Presents Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge is one of the hottest events of the year for muscle car fans. Not only is it a day full of activities, but this is the one event where fans can watch legal drag racing (at 11am). The races will be taking place at M1 Concourse in Pontiac, Michigan, also known as the Michigan highway. The historic Woodward Avenue was transformed from a street into a sanctioned, 1/8-mile drag strip for this event, and that’s a testament of dedication.

Consumers will get to experience the thrills of drag racing in a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and/or Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat. Participants who sign up get to ride along as a professional driver takes one of these supercharged HEMI®-powered vehicles onto the M1 Concourse skidpad and north loop portion of the track. As far as we know, the main drag racing will be between MotorTrend's series "Fastest Cars in the Dirty South," Eric Malone against one of four popular automotive social media influencers. A sort of “celebrity showdown”, these four influencers are given a Dodge SRT Hellcat model and $10,000 to modify their vehicle. Can anyone beat Malone on the 1/8-mile straightaway?

Plenty of activities will be going on, including “Roadkill” stunt shows, pro-modification exhibitions – with flamethrowers for some reason – a classic and modern muscle car show, and the high-octane virtual head-to-head racing Dodge Challenger SRT Demon simulator returns. There will be plenty of food with the assortment of food trucks that will be on the grounds, so plan to make a day out of this if you can go to the event. If you can’t attend, there will be videos and possibly streaming on Dodge.com, Dodge on YouTube, and DodgeGarage.com. Hosted by MotorTend, a one-hour "Roadkill Showdown Special" to air on MotorTrend’s streaming service and MotorTrend TV.

If you manage to go to Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge, share some pictures with us on NowCar social media. Or check out why the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is still as popular as ever when you shop for a car online with NowCar.
