NowCar 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Auction

First 2023 Chevy C8 Z06 to be Auctioned Off

Written By, Jordan R

In recent years we have noticed the increase in automakers finding ways to give back to the community, charity foundations, and other organizations focused on improving the wellbeing of others. With 2022 still so fresh, many may be wondering how to start off the year right. Starting on a positive note is always a good choice, and with many things to look forward to after all the cool car tech we saw at the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show, there are also some much-awaited cars. One of these is the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, the most powerful production vehicle to come with a naturally aspirated V8 engine under the hood. To christen this new vehicle, the first production unit of the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 will be auctioned off for charity.

Which charity is the lucky benefactor of this auction? All funds raised from the sale of the very first 2023 Corvette Z06 will go to Operation Homefront, a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that assists military families. With the mission to build strong, stable, and secure military families, Operation Homefront offers financial assistance, housing, caregiver support, and hosts several family events every year such as toy drives, back-to-school supplies – really people of all ages, from newborns entering the family to those still serving on the front lines and separated from loved ones around the holidays and in need of a home-cooked meal. What a great way to start off 2022, with family.

Anyways, enough of the sappy stuff. As mentioned above, the eighth generation of the Chevy Corvette is no doubt a game-changer, and the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is going to be a heavily sought after vehicle. Originally unheard of, who knew a naturally aspirated flat-plane crank engine could generate enough power to put the Z06 in the same category as a supercar. That may sound odd, but the 5.5-liter V8 is able to generate 670 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. Now that’s some real power, and estimated to be able to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 2.6 seconds, that’s a performance vehicle for the record books.

Chevrolet is partnered with Barrett-Jackson when auctioning off the first production unit of this new high-performance vehicle. The sale is expected to be a big deal, since back in 2020, car collector Rick Hendrick paid $3 million for the first unit of the 2020 C8 Corvette Stingray. When it comes to collector’s items like the new Corvette Z06, we can expect a large turnout. Of course, there is one catch. Production of the Corvette Z06 hasn’t started up yet, and with all the semiconductor chip issues still knocking the auto industry around, the winner of the auction will secure the very first VIN of the new Z06 but won’t be getting the keys to the vehicle any time soon. To soothe that burn, the winner will be able to customize the specs of the car a bit for some personalization. We already know consumers will eventually be able to order a high-performance Z07 package that adds an enlarged front splitter with aerodynamic canards, carbon fiber wheels, and a fixed rear wing to the model – what other options would Chevrolet be willing to dull out for the very first unit?
