NowCar 2020 NACTOY Awards Eligibility List

The Eligibility List for the 2020 NACTOY Awards Has Been Released

Written By, Jordan R

The 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show is upcoming fast this year, and if it’s going to be anything like the 2018 LA Auto Show then it should be really something else. All sorts of new vehicles made their debut last year, all from a multitude of auto brands. Some of our favorites and long-awaited vehicles were revealed, such as the 2020 Jeep Gladiator pickup truck or the brand new 2020 Kia Soul and the 2020 Kia Soul EV. As we near ever closer, a famous contest that also takes place during the LA Auto Show has got automakers riled up. The list of models eligible for the 2020 North American Car, Utility and Truck of the Year awards have been announced, and many familiar models have been named thus far.

The North American Car, Utility and Truck of the Year Awards

For the 2020 awards list, 46 models have been named, including 19 cars, 22 utilities, and five trucks that will be coming to the auto market by 23 different automotive brands. The wide array of intense competition for the ongoing innovation among automakers is set to begin. Models currently eligible for the contest covers a range of cars with a more mass-market appeal to work vehicles like all-new pickup truck nameplates and even the niche of luxury cars. Furthermore, each model needs to be all-new (or still very young in terms of model years in production) and must be available at dealerships before the end of the calendar year (2019).

Taking place in September (2019), a chosen panel of 50 respected jurors from print, online, radio and broadcast media platforms across North America will have all eyes on their reviews. The North American Car, Utility and Truck of the Year Awards are known as the most prestigious and unique in the auto industry – to make it into the final list could be as much as a blessing for some. Jurors will be able to select up to 12 models from three categories that make it to the final list. Following the preliminaries, jurors will then have the chance to conduct additional driving evaluations to compare the models that make it to the testing round between October 8-10, 2019 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. We won’t know who wins each category, but there will be three finalists from each. Winners will be named during the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show in November.
