Chrysler Revamps Pacifica Design To Look Less Like A Minivan

Written By, Brad R

Chrysler has intriguing plans to help grow sales for its fan-favorite Pacifica. While the Chrysler Pacifica has earned a plethora of awards and accolades, minivans aren't exactly a segment that draws a lot of attention. The Chrysler Pacifica has seen some changes made to its exterior appearance and within the trims offered. These represent the largest changes, but there are more inside within the technology and interior offerings for customers. We marvel at the ability Chrysler has shown to build a wonderful minivan. However, the changes to the exterior might surprise many. The look of the Pacifica is slimmer and sleeker, but this was done on purpose.

SUVs have been the most popular vehicle segment in the automotive industry. The new 2021 Chrysler Pacifica has a thinner and more defined appearance. The outside of the vehicle resembles an SUV with its defined exterior angles and new-look grille.

New Changes to the Pacifica

The base trim will now be known as the Chrysler Voyager, a throwback to the former Chrysler nameplate. The Voyager replaces the "L" trim as the lower-tier trim and begins at under $30,000. The exact price for the Voyager is $28,730 MSRP (Plus destination fee). The entry-level Voyager received an 8.5 out of 10 rating from Car and Driver, while the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid gained a rating of 9.5. The Voyager comes with the legendary 3.6-Liter V6 Pentastar engine that nets owners 287 horsepower. An optional driver-assistance hardware package includes radar and camera sensors. Known as the Safety Tec package, this addition should help owners feel more secure while driving. These sensors are made to help detect pedestrians and alert a driver to be wary of anything that might get in the path of drivers.

The Updates Inside Are Impressive

Customers that step inside the Pacifica will appreciate the new 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen introducing the new Uconnect 5 interface. Drivers have their first chance to use the new wireless connection added for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as Amazon Alexa integration. Drivers that want to check in on backseat passengers, like small children, can easily use the interior camera system to keep an eye out while still remaining focused on the road ahead. What more could owners ask for? Chrysler wasn't done adding new features.

Solid Powertrain Options + More New Features

Owners of the Pacifica Hybrid can attest to its virtually unmatched fuel efficiency. The driving range of the Pacifica Hybrid is quite effective with its 84 MPGe rating. The Pacifica Hybrid reaches as many as 33 miles with just its electric power. The standard base engine is the advanced 3.6-Liter Pentastar engine that supplies 287 horsepower. The Pacifica Hybrid engine gives 260 horsepower, but it has two electric motors that are attached. The total zero to 60 mph time for the base engine is just 7.3 seconds, while the Hybrid engine moves the Chrysler minivan from zero to 60 mph in only 7.8 seconds. Both options are paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission and owners can opt for all-wheel-drive for the first time in the Pacifica.

Top-Notch Safety Comes Standard

Chrysler has revamped many safety features to be added as standard and vows to keep drivers safer. The added safety features include lane-departure warning, pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and automated emergency braking. These updates are going to help owners enjoy owning the Pacifica that much more. Owners have four trim choices, the Touring L Plus was removed for the 2021 model year, but remaining are the Touring, Touring L, Limited, and the Pinnacle trim.
