Chevy and DoSomething.Org Team Up To Help Teen Drivers

In a recently launched campaign, Chevrolet has partnered with DoSomething.org to encourage safe driving habits for teens. In a promotional public service announcement video, “Brake It Down”, the campaign offers safety tips for young drivers and encourages them to take a short quiz and share their results. The questions are formed around their friends, their driving habits and on-road mannerisms. We encourage all our readers to take the quiz when they get a chance. The quiz will be made available till September 15.

The quiz will also test young drivers about their friends, their friends music choices and beloved foods, the particular driving habits of their friends and how well they are friends with others, among other questions. All the while, the quiz aims to help encourage young people and young drivers to pay greater attention to their surroundings when they are in a vehicle.

Traffic crashes are a leading cause of death for young people in the US. No surprise, research shows that warnings from parents and scare tactics from ads are not enough. [Do you] Know what works? Peer-to-peer intervention! That’s why we’re thrilled to partner with Chevrolet on ‘Brake It Down.’ This campaign engages young people to be part of the solution instead of talking down to them,” says Aria Finger, CEO of DoSomething.org.

Front-and-center of the campaign features the acting talents of David Mazouz, known for playing young Bruce Wayne on Fox’s Gotham. Together, Mazouz and Chevy partnered with DoSomething.org to showcase driving stereotypes, such as drivers who talk too much or don’t pay attention to the road. The encouragement is meant to allow young people to experience a different side to friendships they may have not experienced.

Mazouz encourages viewers watching the public service announcement to text BRAKE to 38383. By sharing their customized safe driving tips with friends, whoever applies are entered to win a $5,000 scholarship from Chevrolet and DoSomething. Last year, Chevrolet previously partnered with the organization to promote seat belt usage among teenagers to great success. This is just one of the ways that Chevrolet has gone the extra mile to help promote safe driving.

More on the Efforts By Chevy and DoSomething.org

Chevy is proud to help young people really make a difference for their friends and families in the community. Chevy believes in a smarter, safer future and this partnership is one of the many ways Chevy hopes to make this possible. DoSomething.org is a program committed to helping mobilize young people in every US area code and in 131 countries to make a difference in their community. From helping to clean areas, including 3.7 million cigarette butts, to helping cloth half of America’s homeless youth, and running the largest youth-led sports equipment drive every year, these are only some of the remarkable efforts done by DoSomething.org.
