Breaking Down the 2020 Jeep Line-Up

Written By, Brad R

What makes the Jeep brand and parent company Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) successful? Customers have by and large wanted to drive bigger, but faster and more fuel-efficient vehicles in recent years. The expectation is more or less the same for the upcoming decade. Most notably, the 2020 Jeep Gladiator, a mid-size pickup that has won over buyers and critics alike. Not to be outdone, the Jeep Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, and Cherokee are still very popular. The Jeep Compass is solid for those who want a newer take on the Jeep SUV. We will take a look at the latest models and their newest features.

 Why Jeep Over Other Brands?

Part of what makes the Jeep grand so successful is their attention to detail. Iconic vehicles like the tried and true Jeep Wrangler and the all-new 2020 Jeep Gladiator are widely popular. Why do buyers prefer these Jeep vehicles? The Jeep brand was first started in 1943 to make vehicles that would be able to travel just about anywhere. Jeep vehicles are superior, off-road capable products without much modification needed. Owners of a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon have all the modifications to handle off-road travel. Solid skid plates, 10.8-inch ground clearance, phenomenal traction, and solid horsepower are matched with decades of engineering to produce this unstoppable mid-size SUV. Other brands may try to match what is offered, but jeep sits atop a very large mountain of options for buyers. The 2020 Wrangler has now added its first-ever V6 mild-hybrid engine to improved fuel economy, but the exact mpg has not been announced. The fourth-generation Wrangler was recently introduced last year in 2018.

Ahead of the trends with endless accessories and combinations an owner can create for their Wrangler and the all-new 2020 Jeep Gladiator, the popularity comes from the uniqueness of the vehicle. Removable doors, windshield, and roof? Only a Jeep can provide drivers this much flexibility and versatility. The 2020 Jeep Gladiator was based off the Wrangler in conception and Jeep followed through beautifully to make their first pickup in The 2020 Jeep Gladiator begins at $33,545 MSRP. The 2020 Jeep Wrangler starts at $28,295 MSRP.

The Jeep Cherokee and Jeep Grand Cherokee

The Jeep Cherokee and Jeep Grand Cherokee are fitting for those who want the experience of a more modern approach to style without sacrificing off-road abilities. An upcoming 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee is expected to have a redesign with a third-row option added. If not, this might be available in the upcoming Jeep Grand Wagoneer, which is going to be brought back as a three-row SUV last seen in 1993. For the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee, owners will have seven trims to choose from including the Laredo, Limited, Trailhawk, Overland, Summit, SRT and the premium and very fast Trackhawk. A new Premium Lighting Group is available for the Laredo, Limited and Trailhawk that provides bi-xenon headlights with auto high beams and unique daytime runnings lights with added LED fog lights. Opting for the top-tier Grand Cherokee will leave owners with the 6.2-Liter supercharged V8 that pumps 707 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque. The strongest production SUV on the market is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission with all-wheel-drive. The Trackhawk adds yellow accents to the tailgate badge, new 20-inch wheels with Titanium Aluminum finish and the diesel powertrain option is no longer.

Available safety features are provided should drivers of the base trim, the Laredo, want. The electronic driver assist package includes collision warning, brake assist, and lane departure warning. The 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee begins at $32,045 MSRP and the 2020 Jeep Cherokee starts at $25,740 MSRP.

 Smaller SUV, Big Time Experience

The 2020 Jeep Compass is a solid choice, hitting 25 combined city and highway mpg with seating for five. The rugged Compass carries one engine across all trims, the 2.4-Liter I4 engine that hits 180 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission.

The Jeep Compass provides Auto, Snow, Sand, Mud and Rock modes to handle off-road terrain like few other SUVs and crossovers can.  The Jeep Compass also supplies adaptive cruise control and blind-spot monitoring to help drivers feel secure as optional features. The 2020 Jeep Compass starts at a low $22,000 MSRP.
