The first Nissan Maxima to roll off the assembly line was in 1981, for the 1982 model year. At the time, the Maxima competed in the compact car segment, and is currently offered as a full size sedan. The sedan has seen eight generations of iterations and changes, and for the 2016 model year, the Maxima feels more like a sports car, than a standard full-size sedan. Nissan did not release a 2015 model of the Maxima, but instead continued to sell the 2014 version of the sedan, in anticipation for the major changes for 2016.
The overhaul for 2016 includes interior and exterior stylistic changes, technological updates, and even a new engine option. With all of the changes for 2016, the Maxima is getting a lot of positive attention, and for good reason. The 2016 Maxima offers the newest in-vehicle technology, a brand new engine for a sportier ride, and new safety technology that is paving the way for other vehicles in its segment.
The 2016 Nissan Maxima was designed to help showcase Nissan’s cutting edge technology, and innovation. The full-size sedan boasts many new convenience and technology features, that set a new standard when it comes to in-vehicle technology. Check out some of the new advanced technological features that Nissan engineers incorporated into the 2016 Maxima.
Advanced Drive Assist Display: A standard eight-inch multi-touch screen, and a seven-inch Advanced Drive Assist Display work together to keep key information at your fingertips. The newly integrated display, keeps the following information close by, where it is more easily seen and accessed:
NissanConnect: This new standard technology keeps you connected to your vehicle, and the world around you. With standard Bluetooth technology, and hands-free phone communications - driving has never been safer, or more streamlined.
Display Commander: This new standard innovative technology allows drivers to control their NissanConnect system with easy to reach buttons. Toggling up and down, side-to-side, rotating, and scrolling through information has never been easier.
Parental Controls: For Maxima owners who have kids that are of driving age, these brand new features help with peace of mind.
Valet and Boundary Alerts: A designated area can be set up by the vehicle owner where their Maxima is allowed to be driven. If it travels outside of that area, the owner will be notified. Whether for teenagers or valet services, this feature ensures trust and peace of mind.
Maintenance Reminders: Drivers can select to either receive an e-mail or text when regularly scheduled maintenance is required.
Remote Access Features: Remote door lock and unlock, remote engine start, and remote horn and lights, are all incorporated into the NissanConnect system, to help Maxima drivers access their car in new and intuitive ways.
Without a doubt, the Nissan Maxima is one of the most technologically advanced cars on the road today. With all of this new innovation, drivers are sure to appreciate an all-new driving experience, with all of its convenient new features.
With an all-new sporty exterior, and updated engine, the 2016 Maxima is becoming a sport-infused powerhouse. The 3.5-liter V6 engine in past model years, has been updated with sixty percent new parts, for the all-new VQ series. The impressive new drivetrain boasts 300 horsepower, and manages to get an impressive 30 miles per gallon on the highway.
Along with a newly revised engine, comes an all-new transmission. The performance oriented Xtronic system features a wider ratio range, for a faster and stronger acceleration. At the core of the Maxima’s new sportier handling, is a redesigned platform that utilizes high strength steel, and an updated 4-wheel independent suspension with monotube rear shock absorbers.
The impressive changes that Nissan made to the 2016 Maxima, allow it to outperform the Acura TLX V6 and the BMW 335i in the power-to-weight ratio. Maxima also features active ride control as a part of its Integrated Dynamic Control Module, which gives it a smoother, more controlled ride. Neither the Acura TLX or BMW 3 Series offer that technology.
The all-new 2016 Nissan Maxima is packed with advanced safety technology, more than previous model years, and more than the competition. Check out what the Maxima offers as standard and optional safety equipment.
