The first Nissan Maxima to roll off the assembly line was in 1981, for the 1982 model year. At the time, the Maxima competed in the compact car segment, and is currently offered as a full size sedan. The sedan has seen eight generations of iterations and changes, and for the 2016 model year, the Maxima feels more like a sports car, than a standard full-size sedan.
