The 2016 Kia Optima is seeing drastic changes in every possible way. The exterior, interior, and under the hood have all been updated in impressive ways.
One of the most talked about update for the 2016 Optima, is the addition of a turbocharged engine to its lineup. The Optima was previously offered with either a 2.4-liter engine with 192 horsepower, or a 2.0-liter engine featuring 274 horsepower.
Both engines have performed well in the past, and Kia is still making those available for the 2016 model year. Along with the two previous engines, the 2016 Kia Optima is also being offered with a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine with a seven-speed dual clutch transmission and 178 horsepower.
The new turbocharged engine with seven-speed dual clutch transmission is the first of its kind available on a Kia vehicle. The engine gives the Optima a more sporty feel, all while delivering an excellent fuel economy. Each of the 2016 Optima engines result in front wheel drive vehicles.
The 2016 Kia Optima also offers high-quality Michelin tires on all five trim levels, which previous model years did not feature.
Kia engineers worked hard to develop a new body for the Optima, made of high-tensile strength steel alloys. The new body sits on a new chassis that is more durable due to the use of Advanced High Strength Steel.
The result is a vehicle that is lighter in weight than its predecessor, delivering better overall fuel economy, and offers better crash protection, driving dynamics, and a noticeably quieter ride.
Everything about the 2016 Kia Optima is reinvented. While the vehicle is still recognizable from previous generations, the 2016 model year of the sedan features a contemporary exterior design.
Inspired by European design, the all-new Optima was designed with increased exterior dimensions that make the sedan slightly taller, longer, and wider.
