The GMC Sierra was first introduced in 1998, as a 1999 model year. The full-size pickup truck has enough seating for up to six passengers, and is light-duty in nature. The third generation of the Sierra was introduced at the North American International Auto Show in 2012, and was completely redesigned for the new model year.
The highly anticipated updated Sierra featured three new engine options, standard rear wheel drive, and a six-speed automatic transmission. The newly redesigned Sierra also offered high-end interior upgrades like navigation system, and a rear vision camera.
Since the 2014 Sierra 1500 debuted, the newer models did not receive any significant changes. For 2015, the Sierra did gain a few new features worth mentioning - which helped bring the truck up to date on emerging in-vehicle technologies. The 2015 Sierra 1500 received a few minor updates and changes worth noting for the newest model year. Check out a few of the added features and amenities below:
8-Speed Automatic Transmission - Made available on 6.2-liter engine models, this new transmission option offers drivers more control and power than past models.

GMC thought of everything when they set out to design the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500. With four different trim levels to choose from, drivers are able to completely customize their pickup truck to fit their exact needs, wants, and desires. Check out the four trim levels and some of their feature highlights below.
Sierra
This base trim level starts at $30,610, and offers a good list of standard features. Under the hood, this base model comes with a 4.3-liter EcoTec3 engine with a six-speed automatic transmission. With added features such as Hill Start Assist, Electronic Trailer Sway Control, and Active Fuel Management, the base Sierra is a well-equipped performance pickup.
Amenities such as CornerStep chrome rear bumper, cruise control, and power door locks, the Sierra has your basic needs covered.
SLE
Starting at $37,500, this next level up comes with more standard features and amenities. The SLE comes with the same standard standard equipment as the base Sierra, as well as added premium features.
An 8-inch color touch radio display with IntelliLink, 17-inch aluminum wheels, rear vision camera, leather wrapped steering wheel with audio and cruise controls, and a 4.2-inch color driver information center display, are just a few of the amenities that come standard on the SLE.
SLT
Featuring all of the same features that the Sierra and SLE come standard with, the SLT goes one step further. Starting at $44,150, the SLT model comes standard with heated leather seats, driver-seat memory, and a 110-volt power outlet. Under the hood, the SLT differs significantly from other models.
With a 5.3-liter EcoTec3 engine, trailering equipment, and halogen front fog lamps, the SLT is a notch above when it comes to performance.
Denali
GMC’s luxury trim level on all of their nameplates, the Sierra Denali is no different. The Denali comes with everything the SLT offers, plus even more added amenities. The 8-inch color touch radio with IntelliLink and Navigation, alongside the 8-inch customizable driver display, work together to provide drivers with everything they need right at their fingertips.
A Bose Premium Performance Audio system, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated and cooled bucket seats, and a 12-way power driver’s seat, round out the interior cabin for the highest-end luxury. The exterior of the Sierra Denali boasts 20-inch aluminum wheels, chrome door handles, the signature Denali grille, a chrome exhaust tip, mirror caps, and side moldings. The Denali also features front and rear park assist.
The 2015 Sierra 1500 is loaded with great features, but what matters most on this pickup, is what is under the hood. Power no longer means sacrificing efficiency, thanks to the EcoTec technology built into the Sierra 1500. Drivers can choose the most efficient engine available on the Sierra 1500.
The optional 5.3-liter V8 EcoTec3 engine gets the best V8 fuel economy of any other fullsize pickup, with an EPA-estimated 16 mpg city, and 23 mpg highway. For those who seek the highest performance out of their pickup, can choose the 6.2-liter V8, which boasts 420 horsepower, and 460 lb-ft of torque. Drivers who opt for this powerhouse, can trailer up to 12,000 pounds.
Advanced engine technology such as active fuel management, variable valve timing, and direct injection, all work together to increase performance, power, and efficiency on all Sierra engine options.
